Phenomenal Safari Experience! Could not be happier with our decision. I recently went on a 7 day safari with William and had an incredible experience and would highly recommend him to anyone! Similar to the other reviewers, I do not understand the 1 star review and it could be a case of dealing with a difficult customer. We booked a safari with William early in 2021 for a safari in October. Because we booked early, we were very worried about how COVID 19 would impact the experience. Luckily for us, William was extremely communicative during the entire process and would respond to emails and WhatsApp messages almost instantly! He said that he only sleeps a few hours a night because customer service is a huge priority for him and I believe him. When we arrived at the airport he had a sign with our names on it (he sent us a photo of the sign so we knew what to look for). He picked us up in our safari vehicle and off we went!We visited Tarangire, Ngorogoro, Serengeti and Myanara, and saw all of the animals we wanted to see and had some incredible experiences. William was extremely accommodating throughout the entire process and answered all of our questions, and even took us back to the airport for an early 7am flight. If you’re like me, I had never been on safari before and wanted to make sure the experience was unforgettable. William made sure that it was and I highly recommend him for anyone who wants a once in a lifetime adventure.

BOOK WITH WILLAM NOW! You won’t regret it 🙂 I couldn’t be more pleased with our safari experience with William. From the very beginning he was so responsive and answered all the questions and concerns via WhatsApp right away! I swear the guy never sleeps! He is extremely organized and knows how to put together the best itinerary based on your specific/individual needs. Not only did he plan the trip from afar but was also our tour guide. His energetic and kind spirit made each day even more exciting! With him we saw all the big 5 animals and much more. He was very knowledgeable on animal behavior and I really valued and appreciated learning about all the species we saw.Overall, I highly recommend going with William as we couldn’t have asked for a more magical experience! We can’t wait to come back 🙂

Couldn't Overland Them Enough Could Not Be Happier With Our Experience With Overland!I’m going to break this review down into 3 parts: The Company, The Guide, The Experience itself. The Company: Willy from Overland was extremely responsive and a fantastic communicator. When we decided we wanted to visit Tanzania, we contacted about 5 safari companies and Willy was by FAR the most responsive & clearest in his communication. He would reply to my whatsapp messages instantly regardless of what time it was in Tanzania (Seriously, Willy get some sleep!!). Every aspect of our trip was described explicitly so we were able to understand EXACTLY what we were paying for. He clearly takes a ton of pride in providing the best experience to his customers and it shows. He even travelled with us to ensure that there were no problems checking in to hotels or to allow us to modify our plans mid-trip.The Guide: Richard, our guide, was so much fun to travel with. He is incredibly knowledgeable regarding anything and everything in Tanzania. We learned so much during our trip with him. We always loved that he seemed just as excited as we were to spot something! Beyond his extensive knowledge of the African bush, we really felt as if we became good friends with him (and Willy!) during our trip. When we weren’t spotting animals, we were always laughing and joking with them. Lastly, he was always extremely attentive to make sure that we were comfortable and happy and we were always confident that he would go above and beyond to make sure our experience was as good as it could be.The Experience: We did a 10 day trip that included Arusha National Park, Tarangire National Park, Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, and Lake Manyara (As well as a trip to the base of Kilimanjaro on our final day before flying out). It was designed in such a way that we felt each day was better than the previous and each park was very different from the others. Arusha is stunning in its natural beauty and we were able to do a hike with an armed ranger through a buffalo field. It was pretty cool to get out of the car and walk through the field up to a nice waterfall. Tarangire was also beautiful with a bunch of Baobab trees and so many elephants. We had an incredible moment with a mother elephant feeding her calf only feet from the car. To me, Serengeti was the best part of the whole trip. We stayed in an incredible tented camp and saw so many amazing things. Cheetah cubs & lion cubs feeding of fresh kills, a sneaky leopard couple, TONS of elephants, hippos, etc. Pretty much everything we could have hoped for. Ngorongoro is also a must stop. It is so unique and home to the Black Rhino – we THINK we saw one in the distance, but our trip was in a difficult season to see the rhinos because they like to spend time in the forest (Late October). Lake Manyara was a fun day as well – especially for bird lovers. Again totally different from any of the other parks. The day we flew out, we drove to the base of Kilimanjaro and spent some time learning about the area. It was a nice cap to an incredible trip. For our first trip to Tanzania, I am glad that we did everything that we did. They’re each unique and offer something special to visitors. If and when we return, I think I would do every day in the Serengeti – There is just so much happening there. A final note regarding our experience with Overland specifically – I can’t even count the times that we felt lucky to be with these guys instead of one of the other companies. We would have a picnic in the bush with delicious, fresh food and a nicely set up picnic table and see other tourists set up with a basic cold lunch box driving by asking their guides why they weren’t doing that. In Lake Manyara, we came upon another car who had been stuck in a sandy road for over an hour with a broken jack and no cell signal. They were lucky we showed up because Overland had all of the necessary equipment to get them out of their jam. The vehicle we spent so much time in was really comfortable with electrical outlets and an electric cooler to keep food and drinks cold. Throughout the trip, we saw a number of people doing “self drives” – where they just rented a car and did it themselves. We are adventurous travelers. We’ve been to over 25 countries and always do it ourselves. But when it comes to a safari, I would NEVER do it ourselves. Every group self-driving looked stressed and they didn’t have any idea where to find animals. Overall, I highly recommend hiring a tour company – Overland in particular – for your trip to Tanzania!PS. I came to post this review and read the 1* review.... It's pretty clear to me after our experience with Overland that in that case the customer is definitely not right.

Excellent 12 day Tanzania cultural tourism and game drives safari Our 12 day Tanzania cultural tourism and game drives safari was amazing! Every National Park was different. We visited Arusha NP., Tarangire NP, Lake Manyara NP, Lake Natron NP, Serengeti NP, Ngorongoro Conservation Area . Probably our favorites were Arusha NP, our first park where we saw so many animals and birds; Lake Manyara where again we saw such an interesting collection of birds and animals including mating hippos in the lake; and of course, Serengeti NP with it's wide open spaces, big cats, wildebeest and many, many more. We saw all the big animals on the trip except the leopard and 140ish kinds of birds. We saw 3 cheetah brothers following jackals. We saw a black mamba climbing a tree where vervet monkeys were yelling at him. We say an albino baboon. Our guide/driver, Richard was so knowledgeable about all the wildlife and had an eagle eye. Willy, our organizer, had every detail planned perfectly. OUr accomodations were nicer than we ever could have imagined with excellent food , all meals included. We also spent a day visiting Haadzabe and Datoga Tribes who were very welcoming showing us their lifestyles. We spent a day with a Maasai guide at Lake Natron seeing local birds and learning about the Maasai tradtions. We enjoyed every minute of the trip even though the roads were often challenging due to heavy rains before our trip. We liked fording the rivers in the Cruiser. The Land Cruiser and Richard took them all in stride. We would highly recommend this trip and Overland Safaris and would be happy to communicate with anyone who would like to hear more about it. My husband and I were th only ones on this particular safari . Willy went above and beyond toward the end of our trip to help us make new arrangements to fly out of Arusha since our trip was cut short (finished safari but couldn't go on to Zanzibar due to covid). Truly a great company.

Do not book with this company William is a thief , charlatan and LIAR - at first he tells you everything is confirmed as per itinerary, but after countless emails and Skype calls gradually you find that accomodation slips into much cheaper hotels , a whole lot of meals aren’t provided , nor the activities in Zanzibar . The safari itself was great ( no thanks to William ) but our dealings with him have been extremely stressful , and we were uncertain when we arrived in Arusha whether there would even be a safari . A big issue was the airfare from Arusha to Zanzibar , as when we queried this , at first he was vague but finally confirmed it was included in the costing.. On our arrival in Arusha he tried to bully us into repaying him for the airfare , and became very difficult from that point on. It turned out ha cancelled our last night in Zanzibar , all meals and activities except for transfers to our hotel and the Spice Farm tour. We have never experienced such gross inefficiency and dishonesty in 50 years of visiting Africa . He should be in Jail !
